OF GREATER CLEVELAND
by Aubrey Wertheim Jettisoning our usual format, we've decided to devote the column this issue-on the 24th anniversary of Stonewall-to 24 Center Points of Pride.
Some of the people, acts, organizations and whatnot that we rate highly in the 12 months since last June:
John Carroll University. Whodathunkit? For incorporating the Center and the big Q quandary into the counseling and student affairs program-and even establishing a lesbian-gay radio program. Northern Ohio Coalition (NOCI) For consistent and no-nonsense support of our programs and upgrades.
The March on Washington Committee-For work in general and the PRYSM youth group's minibus to the march in particular.
Plain Dealer reporter Julie Washington and the paper's "NEXT" section: Remember the "Agonies of Gays" piece? Credit Julie for bringing the PD up to speed on the sexual minority youth front with commitment and style.
Our Donors, Members and Special Events Supporters with a special nuzzle to the donor who gave us our all-time largest single donation last month of $10,000.
PRYSM Young Women-who in 1993 went from two or three every Saturday to an average now of 14—often half the group.
250 Legitimate Hotline Callers each month. (Don't ask what the other 150 called for.)
The United Church of Christ Community Members-Better coalition builders you couldn't get.
All of our Alternative Healers who found their way to the Living Room and HIV-positive local folk seeking options, new perspectives and progressive approaches in mind, body and spirit.
Jeff on Saturday, for three years running our indefatigable volunteer coordina-
tor.
Anonymous. You know who you are. For the books, or checks, or supplies, or just good words you contributed.

Diane Elze. Latest addition to our staff-
as a temporary volunteer consultant-who comes from Maine with a list of activist credits and recognitions that don't quit.
Workplace Givers who now, through Community Shares payroll deductions, contribute thousands of dollars on the job.
Center Typesetters who make us So Presentable.
Maryann Finegan/Out in the Open Police Training Team-for the two Lakewood gigs. Above and beyond the call...
The Inner Beauty Team-over 75 handywomen and men who have helped renovate our space since last August.
The Inner Beauty Final Check Writer who'll make out the check for $8,500 needed to finish the job so we'll all have a Center that dazzles from the very first step inside.
Our Outgoing Executive Director, Leigh Robertson-for personnel whizwork, calm amidst chaos and too many
attributes to mention.
Straights who Make a Differenceunlocking doors for us, confronting homophobia where we can't, and generally fighting the good fight because it's time, just, and sometimes, even fun.
Gnomes all our low-key friends in crucial positions in business, government, churches, etc. who always let us know what's coming down in time for us to respond. Some family, some not, but all heroes.
Resource Center Suppliers-all our community papers, groups, businesses, etc. who bring the stuff to us so we don't have to make excuses when people ask "Where's the (your choice here)? And Steven Romelfanger for our incredible new rack to put it in.
Responsible, Upstanding, Direct Action Community Folk who come to us when things screw up (we're not perfect). and ask what happened and how can I help it not happen again, instead of staying outside the action and grousing.
And, finally, the almost 300 volunteers-on committees, special events and programs who, over the last 12 months, made the Center stronger, more visible, better organized and a joy to be a part of. You embody Pride for us every day of the year.
This space has been provided to the Center by the Chronicle, and does not necessarily reflect the views of the Chronicle staff or management.
